Social Impact Award - Solar Well Pump


Five social start-ups received the Social Impact Award 2011 on May 20. The prize winners impressed the jury with feasible projects, an innovative spirit and impact. 

After the award ceremony at the premises of Hub Vienna this year‘s social young entrepreneurs were known: THE CONNECTION-Cafe supports youngsters with immigrant backgrounds to find jobs by offering a mentoring system and German courses. PROJEKT BUTTERFLY wants to create better future perspectives for victims of forced prostitution, putting emphasis on anonymous counsel and opportunities for a retreat. 

LÜXING LAOSHI is a vocational project aimed at construction workers in China in order to fight rural exodus. NSP-NEW SOLAR PUMP distributes solar-powered water pumps with a daily volume of 15,000 litres and has already entered the market in Tanzania and Dubai. The winner of the online voting, WHATCHADO displays the careers and ways to success of professionals, with the aim to ease young people’s career choice.
